The very first images from Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years a Slave are now online and in the picture above you can see Benedict Cumberbatch who is a brilliant actor and you can guess the production value of the movie and it is one of the movies you can count on, courtesy of USA Today.

Set for release on December 27, Twelve Years a Slave is based on the 1853 autobiography of Solomon Northrup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, who was abducted and sold into slavery.

Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender), as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) will forever alter his life.

The film, featuring a script by McQueen and John Ridley, also stars Paul Dano, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Garret Dillahunt, Sarah Paulson, Scoot McNairy, Ruth Negga, Alfre Woodard and Michael Kenneth Williams.
