The awards show hit an uncomfortable note when Television Academy CEO Bruce Rosenblum asked Sofia Vergara to stand on a rotating pedestal while he discussed the diversity of television production. The Modern Family actress obliged, awkwardly rotating in front of the Emmys audience, displayed like a sequined handbag on E!’s Clutch Cam.
What a wonderful time for women on television! Besides Sofia Vergara!!

The audience just clapped for Sofia Vergara's butt while she rotated on a disc. That Beyonce feminist moment on the VMAs was pretty cool.

From Julianna Marguiles, "What a wonderful time for women on television" unless your Sophia Vergara and forced on a pedestal at the #Emmys.

Just had to explain the sexist humor of the Sophia Vergara bit to my 10-year-old son. Ugh.

Sophia Vergara is the highest paid actress on TV and they just made a joke of her. This show is a fucking disgrace.

Glad we had to watch Sophia Vergara be objectified for 3 whole minutes but couldn’t give that woman 30 seconds to finish her speech, sigh.

That sexist objectification of Sophia Vergara, with bonus rehashing racist Latin Bombshell stereotypes is not cool.

Somehow this bit with Sophia Vergara is far more symbolic than the #Emmys means it to be.

Sophia Vergara and #Emmys2014 rolling back women's progress by 30 years.

I hope someone punches that guy who spun Sofia Vergara around or gives him syphilis. #Emmys

Sad that Sofia Vergara will never get an In Memoriam since she's an object.
