Directed by Timur Bekmambetov and cast of the movie includes Jack Huston, Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zorer and Sofia Black-D’Elia.
Ben-Hur tells the story of Judah Ben-Hur (Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption.
The film is based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ.” The source material was famously adapted into William Wyler’s 1959 cinematic epic starring Charlton Heston. The 1959 version took home eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. The film also gave Heston his only Oscar for his performance in the title role.
Ben-Hur remake to hit the big screen on August 19.
