Disney has unveiled the first teaser trailer for director Jon Favreau’s CG animated adaptation of The Lion King, and it looks wonderful, check out the trailer below.
The visuals for this movie are gorgeous, and as we all anticipating, it’s going to give the same exact story that the Disney animated film delivered. Only this time it’s going to feature photorealistic CGI animal characters.
Here’s the synopsis:
From Disney Live Action, director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
The star voice cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Oliver was Zazu, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.
The Lion King explodes into theaters on July 19, 2019.
