Fox is planning to release the first footage from War For The Planet of The Apes at New York Comic Con, which will held next week. Today, FOX has released the first official plot synopsis for the film telling us what the story will be about.
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
The first two films in the franchise were brilliant and everyone is very excited to watch the new video.
Andy Serkis will reprise his role as Caesar and Woody Harrelson is playing the Colonel that will be going to war with him. The film also stars Steve Zahn, Terry Notary, and Karin Konoval.
Director Matt Reeves explained:
“The first one is sort of how [Caesar] goes from humble beginnings to becoming a revolutionary. In ‘Dawn,’ he really rose to occasion of becoming a leader in really challenging and difficult times. The notion of what we’re after with the third is to sort of continue that trajectory and see how he becomes a seminal figure in ape history. He almost becomes sort of like an ape Moses. A mythic status… We’re trying to play out those themes and continue to sort of explore it in this universe. Exploring human nature under the guise of apes.”
