The Nautilus House

Known as the shell house, this was designed by Senosiain Arquitectos (organic architecture). The odd and wonderful home is located in Naucalpan, Mexico. Frequently featured in print media as well as on television specials, the property as well as the house are both unique in many different ways. With its own artistic style, this home really divides people when it comes to what to think about it.

The home was constructed in 2006 and was meant for Javier Senosiain, his wife and two children to live in comfortably. Inspired in part by Frank Lloyd Wright and other top architects, the home is a marvel of the modern world in many different ways. Javier wanted to try to express what it would be like to live in a giant shell. And the children? They loved all the hiding places and cozy places to hang out in the home.

The Piano House

Weirdest Houses You've Ever Seen

Located in Huainan City, An Hui Province, China, this is a very unique house that looks like a giant piano and violin made primarily of glass. While beautiful to look at on the outside, it’s fully functional on the inside, making it even more valuable and precious. Some would say it’s one of the coolest buildings in all of China or Asia if not the world.

It was constructed in 2007 and remains popular with locals as well as tourists who travel from around the world to see it in person. Built at a scale of 50 to 1, the building is very accurate when it comes to maintaining the look and feel of the instruments. Many people come to have their photo taken in front of the building, especially brides and grooms.

Spaceship House

Designed and built by Curtis King, this spaceship shaped house sits in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Many images of this unique home exist on the Internet. It was originally constructed back in 1973. An interesting fact that not a lot of people know is that you can rent the spaceship house to stay in for short periods of time. It doesn’t launch off the ground, of course, but it can be a lot of fun to spend a night or two in this piece of history.

Many other odd, strange and wonderful homes exist throughout the world. With a little research, you can quickly find a long list of houses that fit the criteria. Whether it’s in Europe and the old country or Asia or North America, every continent has its fair share of quirky homes and buildings.

When not researching weird things most people don’t know, Jake likes to write guest posts for different websites to share all the strange things he’s come across over the years.
