FOX has revealed the opening date for The X-Files Season 11! It will premiere on Wednesday, January 3rd!
The X-Files next season will consist of ten episodes. Two of them will continue the saga story, and the rest will be more standalone “monster of the week” episodes. Right now I am watching X-Files from the season 1 and now on the season 7 and I have to say except the first few seasons, the show is quite good and smart and I am planning to finish all previous season before the season 11 airs. I am all caught up on the show and will enjoy the season 11 thoroughly.
With more monster-of-the-week episodes this season, fans can expect season 11 to be united in theme but varied in tone. After episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers. But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.
Carter has also said that we’ll get a “new angle” on Mulder and Scully’s FBI boss, Assistant Director Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) which will is going to be an origin episode. He also adds that “Familiar alliances are rattled”. Ohhh interesting.
The series brings back David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson who are returning to their roles of FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as Walter Skinner along with Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, and Haley Joel Osment.
